Yoga – Peace and Happiness

Samantha UelkMake your peace and happiness a priority today. Samantha Uelk shares her Passionate Why for taking our Clayton Yoga Teacher Training. She has begun her training in March and will graduate in August 2015.

Yoga came into my life at exactly the perfect time. I didn’t quite know it then, but looking back, it was when I needed it most. I had lost myself for many years, losing my drive and motivation in life, then almost six and a half years ago, I came to the realization that I needed change. Change that nobody could help me with; change that needed to come from within.

I had found running and yoga and going on hikes to clear my mind. On those runs and hikes I realized I would stop at the most beautiful spots along the way and look out – clearing my mind, feeling the earth below me and the sun above me. Feeling completely at peace with myself and with everything around me. Realizing that there is beauty in every little imperfection and applying that to my life. It takes going through your own hell to be able to really appreciate the beauty of life, the beauty you hold within, and the absolute beauty that surrounds you.

Practicing yoga with nature is the most unifying experience I have ever practiced. Being barefoot in the forest, on top of a mountain, or in the sand; hearing the water flow by you and the leaves brisling in the trees – no other feeling compares. Learning to be mindful of yourself and everything around you and letting the negative energy flow out of you and the positive energy fill you. Stretching your body, relaxing, and taking yourself to the limits all the while letting your soul soak up what we yearn for – peace.

We all live in such a fast paced society where being still and focusing on ourselves is almost frowned upon. I had let myself get so consumed in my life that I had forgot what I was wanting out of it in the first place. Now I want to inspire others to help themselves and be a part of their journey too.”

This last paragraph really spoke to me. Work, family, friends, everything is so fast paced we often at time forget to slow down and take a deep breath. I am a huge violator of this and I’m still learning how yoga can help me slow down and take it day by day.

  4. Very well said, Samantha. I will begin training in June, and hope that our paths overlap. Thank you for the inspiration.

  5. Samantha, this is just BEAUTIFUL!!! I am so looking forward to practicing with you at some point–I know I could learn so much from your practice. What a gorgeous spirit you have, and I know you will be such an inspirational teacher. Very excited that we both found this incredible path…xoxo
