The Power of the Clan

hearts-671974_1280Michelle Maue, practitioner of yoga and owner of Clayton Yoga, writes in this blogpost why she loves teaching yoga more than the first day she began 17 years ago.

Of all healing modalities, Michelle finds, group support measures best. Join any yoga class and you will find that there are students just like yourself wanting to get the most of their experience. Ego likes to try to convince us of our separateness, but yoga reconnects us to spirit, or the power of connection. When seeking to expand personal growth and up level one’s lifestyles, there is simply nothing more powerful than a friend, a group or even a community who has your back!

Ever find yourself reconnected with a like minded soul and instantly negativity and fear transformed. What is at work? As people, we are all flawed. Growing up Catholic, I saw the teachings of forgiveness and unity “sometimes” put into everyday life. After running a yoga community centered studio for 12 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to believe now that peace is possible. I know their are others that disagree, however, Yoga teaches, not to find perfect agreement, but to be steadfast in our absention from doing harm.

All of us are imperfect. We are all in need of work. How each of us finds our way to the heart is different. According to Leonard Cohen, “the light enters through our cracks”. Meeting and working with Clayton Yoga’s marketing coach, Judit Mueller-Kiss, many other great Clayton Yoga teachers and wonderful clients I have learned the power of the clan.

The people in my neighborhood who come to the studio have taught me deeper ways of relating, connecting and keeping the faith. Through the practice of yoga, we develop the self-discipline not to give up on each other. We build a soul intelligence that facilitates more love, increases curiosity in life and ignites a desire to contribute to our surrounding all the more!

This community helps us to create connection, expand courage to take the difficult path, and realign with truth. Their are no shortcuts and the challenges we undergo shape our character and , our deeper more vulnerable, and expansive spiritual side. We remove blockages and fear. It’s from the group, however, that we really animate, come alive, articulate and magnetize forces for good. There is no greater power than this interpersonal relating. People are truly nourished by other people. A connection can reinforce the urgency to keep becoming confident, heal and thrive.

Clayton Yoga hosts 4-6 Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher trainings per year! These yoga teacher trainings fill up very quickly, are limited to just 8 students. We have sold out many of our courses and graduated over 500 outstanding yoga teachers.
