Poems

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

It Is Your Turn Now by Rumi

It is your turn now,
You waited, you were patient.
The time has come,
For us to polish you.
We will transform your inner pearl
Into a house of fire.
You’re a gold mine.
Did you know that,
Hidden in the dirt of the earth?
It is your turn now,
To be placed in fire.
Let us cremate your impurities.

  1. Spring is the month when noone has to define beauty, you just realize it! All paths seem beautiful, where is the confusion and pride of picking one over another? Every path has beginning and ending? why can’t be infinite both way, both what is beneath us and what is beyond us…both are not measurable! Confusion is not in what to pick, but who is really picking and who is really being picked? Is Gold being refereed as your true self and body as impurities? Don’t cremate impurities…cremate the creator of impurities and which is ownership…you will be confused who are you and who is him/her/it? if you just cremate impurities, you will be left with carbon black, another impurity!

  2. I love these! I am bookmarking this to come back when I let fear creep in. I’m excited to take the first step of faith and boldness!

  3. Fear is something everybody feels but no one talks about, except for the brave. Great article! Thank you!

  4. The Road Not Taken is a loved poem! I am glad to read it again.

A dear wise friend once told me when I had a business opportunity that was large (for my age) and scary… she said “when you are given a true opportunity, you should always say ‘Yes'”. It has been good advice! Even though the business move was not for me in the end, I would never think, what if- That is a peaceful feeling.

  5. Samantha Zillah Uelk says:

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.” – Louis L’Amour
This quote hit really close to home with me. With my past being what it is, some may have an idea and some may be reading this comment saying to themselves “I am not really sure what this person is referring to…”. Whether you somewhat know me or have never met me, look at YOUR past, look at what YOU have come through and where YOU are now. Every person who has faced some difficult times in their lives can relate to this in some way. There was a time, when I was in a very dark place, when I thought the life I was living was how I was going to be living the rest of my life and I did not know there was any way to change it. I did not realize that in order to change my life I had to start with me. Then, when I realized that, I had asked myself, “who am I” and I could not answer it. That was the beginning of a very beautiful journey. The journey that I am currently living and still figuring out each day. There will not come a day where I say that my journey is completed, until the day comes where I don’t see the next. That is the day that my journey will end. Until then, I will continue to learn about myself, my purpose, continuously figuring out more of who I am. But it was not until I thought that I had reached the part of my life where that was how I was going to live forever and thought that there was nothing left to look forward to; that is when I found so much more beauty, life, happiness, and overall peace in each day – even the not so great days are still beautiful because there is always something to take from it, to learn from it.
