rock-731140_640Welcome to Clayton Yoga Studio. We are the first yoga teacher training school to be certified by Yoga Alliance in the State of Missouri. Please note, this is not a “canned course”, and our interactive approach will challenge and support you to find new levels of personal growth. This blogpost is a prep guideline to empower every student to take ten key action steps in becoming a great yoga teacher.

We want you to feel comfortable, ask many questions and be yourself. We understand well, that every teacher is coming from a unique background and needing something different. This checklist will help empower you to get the fundamental of yoga without feeling overwhelmed.

Step One. Go to our Private Membership Yoga site, www.claytonyogateachertraining.com. Please note, this site is available only for teachers who have signed up for the yoga course. This, first step, to access the online yoga private training membership site, provides you with 450 pieces of information. Having a private portal allows you to go at your own pace as you absorb up to date, relevant and key yoga articles, photos and anatomy.

Step Two. Purchase and review requested materials by instructor.

Step Three. Keep track of the 8 Clayton Yoga Teacher Training Tools: Breathing, Restorative, Yin Yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Modifications + Adjustments, Anatomy and Advanced Postures. Secure for yourself a 3 ring notebook with 8- separate subject folders. Many interesting handouts will be given. You will want to keep your 8 subjects categorized neatly.

Step Four. Write 500 word Passionate Why Essay. This exercise helps to developing your own unique voice.

Step Five. Learn about the Yin Yoga Postures offered in the handout and read about the benefits of Yin Yoga Postures in the teacher training manual.

Step Six. Complete the discovery and goal setting handout sheet found at the www.claytonyogateachertraining.com website. Here you will get an awesome opportunity to transform your hopes, dreams, wishes into do able practical everyday steps.

Step Seven. Understand that the first 10 minutes of yoga class is essential. Learn 4 of your favorite restorative postures, how to breath correctly, and teach others.

Step Eight. Comment on 12 blogposts located on one of our three websites: www.claytonyoga.com, www.claytonyogainternational.com, www.stlouiscorporateyoga.com.

Step Nine. Listen to the Yoga Nidra Practice CD by Richard Miller and practice 3 times.

Step Ten. Know the Sun A and Sun B. Be ready to know the sequence of these Salutations along with the proper Sanskrit names.

As you continue with your yoga postures, do also think about practicing the Andrew Weil 4-7-8 count breath. This deep, calm, breath, is an inhale for a 4 steady count, pause for 7, and exhale for a steady 8 count breath.

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, the breath is free, easily accessible, and does not require special equipment. When we place our attention on the breath, the breath begins to lengthen and we place the mind in neutral. There we can cultivate a calm, harmonious, balanced approach to living. Dr. Weil recommends practicing the 4-7-8 breath 6 times in the morning and 6 times in the afternoon every day.

Practicing Vinyasa Yoga overall, helps us to find our personal best. Practice often and you will see great progress.
