Charly, what made you want to consider taking yoga?

Yoga just has always come natural to me with out even knowing what I was doing as a child yoga postures just was something my body just did. I have always felt comfortable with it. Not until I was in my early teens did I notice my mom starting a practice of her own and gave yoga a label for me.

While my husband and I were first dating we discovered that we both had an on and off again yoga practice, that of coarse increased his “cool factor” in my eyes. Later when I was preparing to have our first child I started doing yoga regularly just because it felt right for my body to do it. My husband and I took Lamas classes; the breathing felt right and helped empower me to bring my child into the world. I taught yoga to preschool children at a Montessori school, the experience was very intuitive the triune relationship between the yoga, children and myself was such a joy. I remember even after my second child was born yoga was very much an anchor of the recovery.

Many years’ later yoga and meditation became an integral part of my recovery from an auto accident that threatened my ability to continue my yoga practice.

How did you fall in love with yoga?

I have always reached for pranayama in times of stress or pain. I think I’m still falling in love with Yoga. The more I study and practice the more I come to understand that this is my true self. I’m learning how to love with out fear or pain of loss.

How does yoga benefit your life?

Yoga gives me the hope of one day truly being able to accept myself. Yoga gives the path more purpose then the destination. Yoga provides the challenge of infinite learning and growth.

What change do you experience in your life as a result of your yoga practice?

Ease of acceptance.
